Cookie Policy

This document is our cookie policy, aimed at explaining what cookies are and what they are used for.

What are cookies?
As clarified by the Italian Data Protection Authority in the December 2012 FAQ, cookies are “small text strings” – consisting of letters and numbers – “which websites that are visited by the user send to their terminal (usually to the browser), where they are saved before being sent back to the same websites during the next visit by the same user”. Cookies are designed to streamline web traffic analysis, indicate when a specific website or part of it is visited, distinguish visitors from one another in order to provide personalised content, and help administrators improve the website and the users’ browsing experience. Cookies do not allow us to access other information stored on your device, even though that is where the cookies are downloaded. Cookies cannot load any code, carry viruses or malware, and are not harmful to the user’s device.
Below you can find all the information on the cookies installed through this website, as well as guidance on how to manage your preferences.

User consent to the use of cookies
When you access any page of our website for the first time, an informational banner about the use of cookies will appear, allowing you to manage your installation preferences.
The website remembers your choice, so the short notice will not be shown the next times you visit from the same device. However, it will always be possible to withdraw your consent, in whole or in part, using the dedicated widget located in the bottom left corner of each page of the website.
Should you encounter technical issues related to consent processing, you can contact us using the email address provided in the privacy policy linked in the footer of our website.

Duration of cookies
Depending on their nature, cookies can be stored on your device for longer or shorter periods. Cookies can be:
session cookies, i.e. cookies that are stored temporarily on your computer and deleted when you close your browser; they are strictly limited to transmitting session identifiers required for safe and efficient browsing of our website, avoiding the use of other technical methods that could compromise user privacy;
persistent cookies, i.e. cookies that remain stored on your computer’s hard drive until they expire or are deleted by the user/visitor. Persistent cookies automatically recognise visitors who access the website (or other users using the same computer) on each visit. You can also configure your browser to accept or reject all cookies or to show a notification each time a cookie is offered, so you can decide whether to accept it. You can modify the default settings and disable cookies (i.e., block them permanently) by setting a higher level of protection.

Types of cookies
Cookies can be:

  • first-party cookies, i.e. cookies that have this website as their domain;
  • third-party cookies, i.e. cookies related to external domains.

Third-party cookies are necessarily installed by an external entity, always defined as the “third party”, and are not managed by the website.

Nature of cookies
As for the nature of the cookies, there are different types:

  • Technical cookies: used solely for the purpose of „carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the contracting party or user to provide that service“ (see Art. 122, paragraph 1 of the Code).
    They are not used for other purposes and they are installed directly by the owner or manager of the website. They can be further divided into:
    navigation or session cookies, which ensure normal website browsing and use (for example, allowing a purchase or authentication to access restricted areas); they are indeed necessary for the proper functioning of the website;
    analytics cookies (first-party): considered technical cookies when used directly by the website manager to collect aggregated information on the number of users and how they visit the website, in order to improve performance;
    functional cookies, which allow the user to browse the website according to a set of selected criteria (for example, language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided. The installation of these cookies does not require the user’s prior consent (further information is provided in the “Managing Cookies” paragraph below).
  • Analytics cookies (third-party): this type of cookie is not used directly by the website operator, but it is created and made available to third parties for statistical purposes. The website does not have direct control over individual cookies and cannot manage them (it cannot install or delete them directly). You can, however, manage these cookies through the settings available by clicking at any time on the dedicated widget located in the bottom left corner of every page of the website.
  • Profiling cookies: these cookies are intended to create profiles of the user and are used to send advertising messages in line with the user’s preferences expressed while browsing the web. The use of profiling cookies requires the user’s consent. You can, however, manage these cookies through the settings available by clicking at any time on the dedicated widget located in the bottom left corner of every page of the website
